- Ability to learn
- Team Work
“The CO-OP Program with CSIS opened up to a career to me that I could not have imagined. From my first day here, I’ve been part of a welcoming community that not only allowed me to develop as a student but also later hired me on full time to begin my career. CSIS supports many professional networking groups and after-work events and provides learning opportunities for us to better understand the organization’s role and how our jobs fit into the mandate. As a student, I was always treated as an integral part of the team and was shown how my work contributed to the success of the organization. I would recommend a job with CSIS to anyone who wants to work in a supportive and invigorating environment.”
“Working at CSIS is a truly unique experience. While it can be challenging not being able to tell your family and friends what you do and who you really work for, the work environment is extremely rewarding. The dedication and professionalism the people of CSIS put into their work is humbling and contagious, the nature of the work is extremely motivating and the comradery amongst the members of CSIS is familial in nature. I certainly felt welcome and appreciated right from the beginning, and as I became more familiar with CSIS, I was given the freedom to take my own initiative. This was something that I really valued and an opportunity not every co-op placement will offer. If you’re looking for an exciting career opportunity that will push you to work hard and love what you do, as I was when I started as a co-op student at CSIS, then CSIS is an excellent choice.”
“Speaking from my experience as a co-op student who transitioned into a full-time employee, the CSIS workplace environment presents many unique challenges and opportunities that cannot be experienced anywhere else in the industry. Although the nature of the work may seem intimidating at first, CSIS does an excellent job of fostering an active, involved and inclusive community that makes coming to work every day a joy rather than a chore. The work performed on a day-to-day basis is both stimulating and rewarding while also providing a true sense of accomplishment and belonging. These were feelings that I experienced immediately upon my arrival at CSIS and continue to experience as I forge my career path and continue to develop not only as an employee but also, and more importantly, as a person and Canadian citizen. It is truly inspiring to work with so many employees that share the same level of passion and professionalism needed to ensure our country remains safe for all its inhabitants. All in all, the CSIS co-op experience is a truly unique opportunity that I would recommend to anyone and everyone.”
