uOttawa Pride Week

LGBTQ2+ community includes individuals who identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer and two-spirit as well as a range of other gender and sexual identities. These communities have fought for their rights for 50+ years.

Wellness Café

Location: UCU Terminus

Time: 11 a.m.

Join us for World Mental Health Day and uOttawa Pride Week to raise awareness on suicide prevention in our community and what each of us can do to help. Every 40 seconds, someone loses their life to suicide and according to the Canadian Mental Health Association, LGBTQ2+ people are approximately 14 times more at risk of suicide than their heterosexual peers.

October 11

Pride Crosswalk Inauguration

Location: University Square

Time: 10 a.m.

Join us on National Coming Out Day for the inauguration of the new rainbow-coloured crosswalk near University Square. Crossing the street is easier when others have marked the way (hence the symbol of the "crosswalk"). We therefore hope that these LGBTQ2+ on-campus initiatives will possibly help some members of our community know that they are supported and celebrated here at uOttawa. The reveal of the crosswalk and Jacques Frémont, our President and Vice-Chancellor’s speech will end our uOttawa Pride Week on campus.
