Fall has arrived on campus

‘Tis the season for pumpkin spice lattes, rust-coloured things, and everything spooky. The weather is still mild enough to enjoy the outdoors without being scorching, sweaters are back in style, and Ottawa will soon be bursting with colours.

While you are probably getting that coffee IV started for midterms, don’t forget to take some time for yourself (and switch to decaf!).

Here are some of the activities to look forward to this haunting season:

5150 rue des Ormes

Movie night: 5150 rue des Ormes

When: October 17, 2017 at 7:30 p.m.

Where: Alumni Auditorium (UCU).

Presented in French with English subtitles, this movie about a psychopath who kills drug-dealers, pedophiles and other bad people to create a better world is perfect for this time of the year.

Movie night: Insidious

When: October 19, 2017 at 7:30 p.m.

Where: Alumni Auditorium (UCU).

Presented in English with French subtitles, this movie tells the story of a family who moves into a haunted house and whom's child falls into a coma and is dragged away by an evil spirit. It's sure to get you ready for Halloween.

Men's Hockey: Halloween night

When: October 28, 2017 at 7 p.m.

Where: Minto Sports Complex.

Wear your best costume to the hockey game. Contests, prizes and great deals await you. Buy your tickets online.

Makeup and photobooth

When: October 31, 2017 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Where: Agora (UCU).

Stop by the makeup station located at the Agora (Jock-Turcot University Centre) on Halloween and get your face painted in the style of Día de los Muertos. A photobooth will also be in the UCU on that day. Costumed or not, snap a few pictures with your friends.

Stranger Things marathon

When: October 31 from 4 p.m. to 1 a.m.

Where: Media Centre (MRT 153).

The Upside Down is a dangerous place. Watch all nine episodes of the new season with us. (This event is organized as part of International Games Week.)
