Important dates and deadlines

Application for Fall 2024 and Winter 2025 - regular exchange is open! 

If you are interested in participating in the exchange for the Fall 2024 and/or Winter 2025 terms, the following deadlines apply: 

  • Consortium exchange (Killam, NSE):
    • December 8, 2023: Deadline to submit your preliminary course selection, for all your three destinations, to your faculty for exchanges offered by consortium. 
    • January 20, 2024: Deadline to submit a complete application through the uoZone International Exchanges application. 
  • Regular exchange:
    • February 2, 2024: Deadline to submit your preliminary course selection, for your first choice destination, to your faculty for regular exchange. 
    • February 24, 2024: Deadline to submit a complete application through the uoZone International Exchanges application.

If you are interested in pursuing an exchange through this method keep in mind the deadlines for this process will be different (you can review them at the top of this page).

Killam Fellowships Program

This program provides an opportunity for exceptional undergraduate students (other than those in professional programs) to spend either one term or a full academic year as an exchange student in the United States at one of the 15 Killam partner universities

Funding :

  • One term: $5,000  

  • Two terms: $10,000  

  • Students participating in this program also receive a University of Ottawa mobility scholarship.  

The Killam applications are manage by uOInternational Mobility Team but you must also apply directly with that consortium.

If you’re applying for the Killam Fellowships Program, complete the steps in the Killam cover sheet and checklist. Make sure you have all the required documents. If you don’t submit all the documents by the deadline, you won’t be eligible.  

National Student Exchange 

The National Student Exchange (NSE) program opens exchange opportunities at hundreds of USA exchange destinations to uOttawa students.

For the application procedure, you will be able to follow steps 1 through 3 highlighted above.

IMPORTANT: Some universities have a mandatory health insurance policy and it may cost up to 2000$ US.  When researching for a destination on the NSE website, pay attention to the health insurance policy.  

The NSE applications are manage by uOInternational Mobility Team, no need to apply directly with that consortium.

Funding

  • Students participating in this program also receive a University of Ottawa mobility scholarship.  

Administrative fees for the National Student Exchange (NSE) are $265. This is a one-time charge, even if you make more than one application. You must pay your administrative fees by the deadline.

Fees are not refundable.
