Course description
In this course you will explore how the COVID-19 pandemic has impacted economies. You will learn how governments reacted to the pandemic and how policies were reflected in the economy. This course aims to enhance your understanding of concepts and thinking that shaped decision making from public health to economic, fiscal and monetary policies and the difficult policy trade-offs and issues that every government faces, especially in the context of a crisis and a novel virus.
Prerequisite: 24 university course units.

Course description
Value-for-money is at the core of a well-functioning expenditure management system. But, how is value defined? How can effectiveness and efficiency be balanced with public interest? In this microcourse, you will learn principles and tools for framing and understanding value, performance measurement and budgeting. You will apply these concepts to case studies based on actual events, exploring how evidence and data are required to assess performance toward the realization of value for money.
Prerequisite: 24 university course units.
SCS 4100 - Selected Topics III: Anti-racist Activism in University Settings (3 units)
Development of a selected issue for Social Sciences. Presentations and discussions on a particular topic.

This course will give students the chance to learn about anti-racist theories, to situate the role of academia in both reproducing and dismantling racism and to reflect on their own experiences in anti-racists actions.

Ce cours permettra de théoriser l’activisme anti-raciste, de situer le monde universitaire dans la reproduction et la transformation du racisme et, aussi, vous permettra de réfléchir à partir de votre propre expérience en actions anti-racistes.
