Degree equivalency for international applicants
For admission to graduate studies, you must have an honours bachelor’s or other degree equivalent to a four-year Canadian bachelor’s.
Verify the equivalent degree from your country required for admission with our search tool to find out the degree equivalent you will need in order to do a master’s or doctorate degree with us.
Note that this tool is intended as a general reference and does not replace the admission process to graduate studies. As this tool serves as a guideline, it could occur that the admission requirements may be higher for some graduate program.
Check the language requirements
Most courses at the University of Ottawa are taught in English, French or both. Mastering the language of instruction of the program for which you have applied is therefore an admission condition.
Research activities can be conducted in English, French or both, depending on the language used by the professor and the members of his or her research group.
If your first language is neither English nor French
If your first language is neither English nor French, you must provide one of the following:
- a diploma confirming your postsecondary studies at an English or French-language university
- your results in a recognized language test
See if you meet our language requirements.
