New perspectives

Given that uOttawa is one of Canada’s top ten research-intensive universities, it stands to reason that our researchers are creative, innovative and passionate about their work. They explore the frontiers of knowledge in almost every area of human activity.

Several of our researchers have made Francophonie and bilingualism the focus of their research, including those who hold Research Chairs in Canadian Francophonie. They have established a solid foundation for a network of researchers with similar interests, and they strengthen our position as a world leader in research on Canadian and North-American Francophones.

In the spotlight

The exhibition Vie française dans la capitale, an outcome of Chantier Ottawa, an initiative co-ordinated since 2011 by the Centre de recherche en civilisation canadienne-française (CRCCF) with the participation of over fifteen French Canadian specialists, presents archival documents of diverse origins about Ottawa’s Francophone population, its institutions, its achievements, and its ambitions at various times in its history. Many of these documents are published for the first time in this exhibition.
