The University’s Sports Services is continuing with its tradition of supporting the fight against breast cancer. For more than eight years now, the football teams and the women’s basketball and hockey teams have each taken part in various Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation’s fundraising campaigns. This year, however, the teams are joining forces for the Think Pink campaign.
All Canadian Interuniversity Sport (CIS) women’s basketball teams are participating this year. The football team, which first became involved about eight years ago at the request of some former players, is also taking part in Tackle Breast Cancer campaign, a recent initiative of Ontario University Athletics.
For the second consecutive year, the women’s hockey team is participating in the Pink the Rink event, organized by students in the Sports and Recreation Marketing and their professor, Stephen Stuart.
It’s easy to help support the Think Pink campaign. You can make an online donation, come out to one of the upcoming Think Pink varsity games or purchase a Gee-Gees Think Pink t-shirt from one of the Sports Services Customer Service counters.
