The University of Ottawa Heath Services Family Health Team (UOHS FHT) offers comprehensive chiropody (foot care) services provided by a registered chiropodist. Chiropody services focus on prevention, early identification, and treatment to help you achieve optimal foot health.




What to Expect

Chiropody services at UOHS include:

  • Diabetic foot screening and education
  • Wound care
  • Nail care (including treatments for fungal, ingrown, and difficult to cut)
  • Nail surgery
  • Dermatological management
  • Corn and callus reduction
  • Wart treatments
  • Foot pain management
  • Biomechanical assessments & gait analysis
  • Custom foot orthotics

How to Access

Patients who are rostered with a UOHS FHT physician can access chiropody services. Ask your physician or healthcare professional at Health Services for a referral. If you have any questions about chiropody services, please contact us at 613-564-3950. You can register now online, by phone or in person.

How to Prepare

For the first chiropody appointment patients are asked to bring two pairs of shoes that are worn most often.

In case of emergency, always dial 911. THAS connects you to a nurse who can provide medical advice, or, if appropriate, provide access to a family health team doctor or suggest that you go to emergency.


Patients not registered with a family doctor at UOHS – Ontario residents

In case of emergency, always dial 911. Telehealth Ontario is a free service that allows Ontario residents to speak to a Registered Nurse with their medical questions any time of the day or night. This could be when you're sick or injured but aren't sure if you need to see a doctor or can treat the situation at home.


Patients not registered with a family doctor at UOHS – Quebec residents

In case of emergency, always dial 911. Info-Santé 8-1-1  is a free and confidential telephone consultation service that puts you in contact with a nurse in case of a non-urgent health issue.
