The Residence Life Team
Who we are
I have worked for Housing Services at uOttawa for the past two years and it has been some of the most memorable times of my undergrad. I lived in Marchand in my first year and I still remember the positive impact the Community Advisors and Live-In Mentors had on my residence experience. I got the sense that the Housing team was a family – I wanted to be a part of it and help future first year residents build lifelong connections.
My favourite part of working for Housing is the creative freedom we have when it comes to achieving our goals. If you have a unique idea to increase your resident interactions, no matter how different it may be, your team will listen to you and provide you with the resources to turn your idea into a reality.
Working for Housing will be a new challenge that you have probably never encountered before, but take this opportunity to grow and push your limitations. I have learned so much about perseverance and commitment, which I will carry with me into my career. I am forever grateful for the experience that Housing has provided me, and I encourage you to take the first step and apply.
The Residence Life community has influenced me more than any organization I’ve ever been a part of. They shape me into a better version of myself and support me through personal and professional growth on a daily basis.
This job is not without its challenges but it’s rewarding and truly makes you feel like you’re impacting those around you. It’s given me an opportunity to be a part of something bigger than myself and for that I am forever grateful.
The Residence Life Team is composed of:
Residence Program Assistants are responsible for helping to create, develop and implement programs designed to help expand the student experience, with a focus on student transition, academics, health and wellness, and residence life. Community Advisors are upper year student leaders, hired by Housing to foster a community atmosphere in your building, on your floor or unit. They help you out in many ways, direct you towards other resources you may need, and maintain and improve the quality of community life. They also deal, in a confidential manner, with any questions or problems you may have.
