President and CEO of the Community Foundation of Ottawa
For more than 20 years, Barbara McInnes has been overseeing the growth and development of the Community Foundation of Ottawa, an organization for community philanthropy that connects donors with important causes.
Barbara McInnes has played a leading role in the Foundation since its inception in 1987. Over the years, she oversaw the Foundation as it increased the scope of its support and grew to be the eighth largest community foundation in Canada.
With dedication that knows no boundaries, she has worked to foster development of the community foundation movement in her community, across Canada and around the world. She was a founding member of the Community Foundations of Canada, where she served on the board of directors for 12 years. She has also gained renown with international organizations like the Council on Foundations and the Transatlantic Community Foundation Network. Active in her community, she was also president of the Ottawa Estate Planning Council and sat on the board of directors for numerous local institutions and organizations, including Carleton University, the United Way and the Ottawa School of Art.
Barbara's recent appointment to the Order of Canada highlights her exceptional contributions as a leader and catalyst for the development of the community foundation movement both in her own community and across the country.
