Dear members of the University community,
Congratulations on a successful fall 2018 academic term. I would like to thank you all for your work, your devotion to our students, and your tireless efforts to create a vibrant learning environment in which they can thrive. Without you, none of what we do every day on campus would be possible.
As a community, we have a lot to celebrate. We have advanced cutting-edge research, opened our new STEM complex, LabO and CRX, brought home athletic championships and maintained our competitive position in influential rankings both in Canada and abroad.
We are inviting our students to think globally more than ever, thanks to the new uOGlobal recognition program that will give them the intercultural skills and values they need to compete in an interconnected, global job market. Our students will also benefit from the Kanata North initiative, which will open doors to the high-tech sector in our region. In turn, our experts will also be invited to explore co-creation opportunities with Canada’s largest research and technology park.
As we set our sights on the coming year, I invite you to actively participate in Imagine 2030, the strategic planning exercise that will help define the long-term future of our university. Stay tuned for the upcoming second phase of this innovative strategic planning exercise, scheduled for early 2019.
In the meantime, I wish all of you, and your family and friends, a wonderful holiday season and a happy New Year filled with health and prosperity. I look forward to working with you in 2019 and to continuing to achieve great things at the University of Ottawa!
