This week marks the start of one of my favourite times of year at the University of Ottawa — a new academic year. To the newest members of uOttawa, welcome! And for those of you returning, welcome back!
With thousands of students, faculty and staff converging on campus, September is always special. Everyone is energized and reconnecting with one another after the summer break. It’s a time of renewal and an opportunity to reflect on what we want to accomplish in the coming months. Students are attending courses on new subjects and enjoying amazing extracurricular activities while our faculty and staff are looking forward to teaching and assisting students so that they make the most of the learning experience and graduate ready to lead on the global stage.
To improve their experience, we continue to provide students with a means to stay connected and share their comments, the uoSatisfACTION page. This forum lets students provide feedback on how campus life can be improved for everyone.
As the year begins, I encourage all of you to take care of yourselves, each another and the community around you. Ensuring everyone’s well-being is critical to academic and personal success.
I would also like to take this opportunity to thank each and every one of you for your remarkable work. Whether you are studying, teaching or involved with our daily operations, you contribute to the vibrant community that is uOttawa.
I wish you a great term and a successful year!
