Orientation for new students

Are you a new Gee-Gee arriving this fall with a bunch of questions? To prepare you well for university life, we’re offering you two activities this summer. Spend the day on campus during Summer Orientation or enjoy a visit near you from your regional mentors. Find out about the steps to get your student card or bus pass and get to know our campus services.

Location: Main campus (Ottawa, Ontario)


Sign up for a free orientation day offered by the Student Academic Success Service (SASS), in partnership with your faculty, to discover the resources and services available at the University of Ottawa. Get to know your campus along with your fellow students! Your friends and family are also welcome.

Why attend

  • Meet student guides from your faculty to learn valuable tips on how to succeed at university.
  • Get to know your faculty and discover the many student services available on campus.
  • Participate in activities with other first-year students and chat with our ambassadors.
  • Check out the 24/7 Dining Hall and find out more about our meal plans.
  • Take a tour of your new campus and the student residences.
  • Pick up your uOttawa student card (optional). Avoid the lineups by ordering your student card online before your visit. To do so, bring two valid pieces of ID.

Between late July and mid-August, your regional mentors will be visiting a city near you. Offering our own student perspective, we will cover important topics such as moving into residence, 101 Week  and a variety of useful tips and tricks for your first year. Our regional visits are your chance to speak with a university student, get answers to your questions and start the year off on the right foot. We can’t wait to see you there!

  • Help with course enrolment — we want you to get the best schedule possible.
  • Personalized campus visits — we all get lost from time to time, but you don’t have to.
  • Activities with people from your region — a great way to make friends.
  • Coffee Fund — for when you just need to chat.
