Activities for new students
If you’re new to the University of Ottawa, we encourage you to take part in some of the activities we’ve developed specially for new students. These activities are designed to help you become familiar with the University of Ottawa, meet new people and have fun with other students!
During the summer
To help you get ready for university life, we offer two different opportunities for orientation during the summer months. You can choose to join us on campus and take part in summer orientation, or let us come to you, as our regional mentors set off to offer information sessions across Canada.
In August and September, come spend a day on campus with your parents and your friends. See how your faculty works, find out how University of Ottawa services operate, and tour the important areas on campus. Meet students from your faculty iand let second-, third-, and fourth-year students pass on their advice for a successful university experience.
From the end of July to mid-August, our mentors visit many Canadian cities to meet you and host presentations to help you prepare for your arrival on campus. Mentors will share with you, from a student’s perspective, what you need to know before, during and after you arrive on campus. They’ll be happy to answer any questions you may have as well!
During the first week of September
There are lots of activities during the first week of September to help you get to know the University and give you a chance to meet other students in your faculty or program. Take advantage of this time to have fun and meet new people!
