About your card
Your uOttawa card is not only your official University of Ottawa student card: it is also a meal plan card, library card, photocopy card, gym membership card, access card and campus debit card! The uOttawa card provides students with safe, convenient access to their money. The uOttawa card combines many cards into one.

Using your card for access
Students will need to use their uOttawa card to enter the following locations.
Exam halls
You are required to present your uOttawa card to write your exams.
Library
Your uOttawa card is used to access Morisset Library after hours. If you have any outstanding library fees, you will not be allowed access until all fees are paid in full. Additionally, as your official library card, your uOttawa card can be used at affiliated libraries (Saint-Paul University and Carleton University, etc.).
Sports Services
Your uOttawa card is your official access card for all Sport Services facilities at the University.
SASS – Student Academic Success Service
For some SASS services, students may be are required to use their uOttawa card to register upon arrival .
Health Services
If you are a uOttawa student whose uOttawa card is valid for the current term, you will need to present your card every time you visit the University of Ottawa Health Services (UOHS); otherwise, you will be billed for certain services that are normally covered by insurance. If you don't have your student card with you, or if your card has expired, you can still use UOHS services but you will need to pay for uninsured services on site. You will be refunded if you return to UOHS with a valid uOttawa card within seven days.

Your uOttawa card is not your U-Pass
The U-Pass is a mandatory bus pass program for all graduate and undergraduate full-time students at the University of Ottawa. Your U-Pass is a smart card and will work on all STO and OC Transpo buses.

What do I do if I lose my uOttawa card during the evening or weekend?
If you lose your uOttawa card during the evening or weekend, deactivate it on line. If you need Flex dollars, you can get a Discover uOttawa card from a cash-to-card dispenser and reloading station and use it until you can get a replacement uOttawa card. You will need to add funds to the Discover uOttawa card. Please note that funds remaining on the Discover uOttawa card will not be transferred onto your uOttawa card.

How can I check my uOttawa card balance?
Check your balance:
- On line, by using the login section at the top of the page or through your uoZone account
- At any Food Services location
- At any cash-to-card dispenser and reloading stations
- At the uOttawa Card Service (in person).

If I don’t use all the funds on my uOttawa card flex account during the academic year, do they remain in my account?
As long as your uOttawa card is valid, funds in your Flex plan account will automatically be transferred from one academic year to the next.

What valid photo identification do I need to bring to get my uOttawa card?
To receive a uOttawa card, you must present a valid passport or at least two of the following documents, one of which has your photo:
- Driver's licence (photo)
- Certificate of Indian Status (photo)
- Ontario BYID card (LCBO) (photo)
- Federal government employee ID (photo)
- Provincial government employee ID (photo)
- Municipal government employee ID (photo)
- Certificate of Canadian citizenship
- Birth certificate
- National ID (SIN)
- Affidavit

What if I don’t use all the funds in my meal plan account?
24/7 All-you-care-to-eat dining hall account
Funds earmarked for the 24/7 Dining Hall are non-refundable, non-transferable and non-interchangeable and cannot be transferred to the Dining Dollar or Flex Dollar account.
Dining $ account
If you have the 5 day or 7 day meal plan, any amount greater than $25 remaining in this account at the end of the academic year will automatically be transferred to your flex $ account.
Pay-as-you-go meal plan
- Pay-as-you-go meal plan is a tax-free declining balance plan that a student can use at any of the 22 locations on campus, including the Dining Hall.
- At the end of April, any funds remaining in this account will automatically be transferred to your Flex account, minus a $25 administration fee.
