Providing table heading association

Conformance levelSeverity levelSuccess Criteria
AWarnings1.3.1

Check if the table is a simple data table or a more complex table. Simple data tables with one row or column of headings only need table headings defined (th). When data tables have a complex structure the 'scope' attribute can be used to identify whether a cell is a header for a row, column, or group of rows or columns.

How to resolve this issue

  • A critical step toward creating an accessible data table is to designate row and/or column headers.
  • If the page was created through the Drupal CMS platform, please edit the content of that page by logging in to the CMS platform, selecting the page with the error.
  • Select the top row in the table, select the icon (table cell properties).
  • Select cell type, then chose Header, then update.
