History

The study of history promotes a better understanding of how societies work, the factors that bring them together and set them apart, and the events that shape their values and identity. The historical approach also helps to explain the evolution of culture and institutions and their interactions with politics, economics and society. Courses cover periods from the ancient to the contemporary, regions including Canada, the United States, Latin America, Europe, Asia, the Middle East, and Africa, and a diverse array of themes, including gender, race, ideology, diplomacy and war.
