Political Science

Politics is everywhere, and political science describes, analyzes, explains and evaluates phenomena relating to power in society. It also concerns political structures and institutions, ideas and processes, as well as the exercise of power and resistance. It extends both to the relationships between political agents within societies and to those between states and other actors on the international level. Finally, it examines the general context that influences political life and political institutions, including social groups, social movements and ideologies. Our programs not only offer solid training in political science, but also emphasize critical thinking and cutting-edge political issues, such as citizenship and identity, globalization and development, ethics and democracy. Students can expand their knowledge where their personal interest is keenest, be it in Canadian politics, international relations and world politics, political thought, or comparative politics.
