Composition of the Faculty council
The Council of the Faculty of Arts is composed of not more than seventy-one members:
• the dean, the vice-dean, the associate dean, the assistant dean and secretary of the Faculty together with the chairpersons of all departments or schools (13), who are ex officio members;
• the director and one member of the teaching staff of the Second Language Institute;
• the director of the Centre de recherche en civilisation canadienne-française (CRCCF);
• the director of the Institute of Canadian Studies (ICS/IÉC);
• two representatives elected to the Senate if they are not already members of the council in another capacity;
• twenty-seven other members of the teaching staff elected by the departments according to a distribution based on the number of regular, full-time professors;
• one seat for an observer without voting privileges, reserved for the coordinator of the women's studies program;
• eighteen members elected by the students according to the following formula:
1. one student from each department or school of the Faculty, for a total of 13;
2. five students registered in the Faculty of Arts in the general BA program or in an interdisciplinary concentration or honours program.

• two members elected by the regular support staff.
