ENV1101 Global Environmental Challenges (3,0,0) 3 cr.
The threat of human induced environmental degradation and the societal responses to these environmental challenges. Case studies from contemporary examples such as climate change, air and water pollution and its impact on human health, from a social science perspective.

Les menaces causées par la dégradation environnementale d'origine anthropique et les réponses sociétales à ces défis environnementaux. Étude de cas sur des thèmes d'actualité comme les changements climatiques, la pollution de l'air et de l'eau et ses effets sur la santé, envisagés selon une perspective sociale.

Introduction à l'approche multidisciplinaire et aux problèmes conceptuels et méthodologiques de la recherche environnementale. Élaboration d'un projet de recherche; définition du cadre théorique et expérimental. Méthodes d'acquisition et d'analyse des données.
Préalable : Permission du coordonnateur du programme. Cours avec laboratoire et/ou travail sur le terrain. Réservé aux étudiant(e)s en Études de l'environnement.

Discussion of current environmental issues with professors of different departments and invited speakers from a multidisciplinary perspective.

ENV4999 Volontariat en environnement / Environmental Volunteer Work  
Fifty hours of volunteer work with an environmental organization, approved by the program co-ordinator and certified by the organization.
Hours can be accumulated over several semesters with registration during the semester when they are completed. N.B. Reserved for Environmental Studies students.
