Faculty of Education (Teacher Education)

MESSAGE FROM THE DEAN

The role of the University of Ottawa Faculty of Education is to encourage the creation and dissemination of knowledge relating to all aspects of education and to train professional educators who can play a part in the Anglophone or Francophone community. Our faculty is aware of its responsibilities as part of a bilingual university; we offer full programs in English and French and are active in developing Canadian Francophone communities and culture.

Through our faculty, the University of Ottawa is among the universities that train the most teachers in Ontario. The faculty stands out by offering programs at all levels of study, on both the English and French sides. To do so, we maintain close ties with school boards and professional associations and apply technology to teaching.

In recent years, research on education in our faculty has grown rapidly, making the university one of the most active in Canada in this area. The faculty has researchers studying topics as varied as literacy, innovative pedagogical material in different disciplines, teacher training, mental health, social issues in education… We offer graduate programs to train tomorrow’s researchers or stakeholders who can become genuine agents of change.

Our faculty aims to be an interdisciplinary and intercultural crossroads where dialogue deepens our understanding of the world and helps our society develop in harmony. For you as a prospective student, this is the type of environment we offer, one where you can blossom and contribute to the future of our community.

We hope you make our faculty yours!
