Biographie

Les recherches de Janet Squires visent à améliorer la façon dont les professionnels de la santé appliquent leurs connaissances. Actuellement, la professeure Squires mène des recherches sur la conception, la mise en œuvre et l’évaluation d’interventions fondées sur la théorie et le contexte pour faire en sorte que les professionnels de la santé aient davantage recours à la recherche et aux comportements basés sur la recherche pour améliorer la santé du patient et le système de santé. Son programme de recherche met l’accent sur : (1) l’exploration du milieu organisationnel et de son rôle dans l’application des connaissances; (2) la conception et l’évaluation d’interventions fondées sur la théorie pour modifier les comportements des professionnels de la santé; (3) l’élaboration d’instruments de mesure (enquêtes et évaluations psychométriques); et (4) les revues systématiques. Elle participe présentement à plusieurs projets financés à l’échelle nationale portant sur l’influence du milieu sur l’application des connaissances, et la conception et l’évaluation d’interventions visant à modifier les comportements des professionnels de la santé (p. ex., augmenter les dons d’organes dans les hôpitaux pour adultes; améliorer les pratiques en matière d’hygiène des mains dans les hôpitaux pour adultes; améliorer les pratiques en matière de soulagement de la douleur dans les hôpitaux pédiatriques; et améliorer l’état de santé des résidents dans les centres d’hébergement et de soins de longue durée).
