Le professeur Lutscher est professeur de mathématiques appliquées et de biologie mathématique. Il a rejoint l'Université d'Ottawa en 2005 après avoir bénéficié d'une bourse postdoctorale PIMS aux universités d'Alberta et de Calgary. Il a obtenu son doctorat à l'université de Tübingen en 2000.
Le professeur Lutscher est lauréat du Prix de recherche CAIMS (2022), d'un supplément d'accélération à la découverte du CRSNG (2016-2018) et d'une bourse de chercheur débutant de l'Ontario (2007).
