Il propose d’ajouter au point 2, une présentation sur les SLICCs (student led, individually created courses).

SLICCs (student led, individually created courses)
A. Malette et G. Ramsey présentent une mise à jour des cours SLICCs. Une approche a été adaptée par le groupe de travail de l’Université d’Ottawa. Le projet pilote est lancé pour la session d’été 2025, offert aux étudiants et étudiantes au premier cycle. Une évaluation du projet sera par la suite soumise au CEPC et communiquée au CES.
S’il y a de l’intérêt au niveau des études supérieures, il faudra développer une cote de cours.
Une discussion se poursuit à propos de l’opérationnalisation du cours pour les études supérieures.

Situation actuelle : Le rythme de changement rapide, aux niveaux fédéral et provincial, favorise un changement de nos interlocuteurs et de leurs priorités. La guerre tarifaire, la possibilité de récession, de réduction des effectifs des fonctionnaires fédéraux pourraient entraîner des répercussions sur la demande de nos programmes. À l’international, plus de 80% des étudiants participant aux foires de recrutement sont principalement intéressés à nos programmes d’études supérieures, notamment les maîtrises. Dans ce contexte, il est encore plus critique d’avoir une bonne offre de programmes, d’être agile et ouvert sur les besoins de nos étudiants futurs et sur le marché de travail.
Suivis de la rencontre avec GSAÉD : The Graduate Students Association des Étudiant.es Diplômé.es (GSAÉD) and the Administration Committee meet each term. This helps ensure regular communication. The last meeting occurred on February 28. There was a discussion about the Supervisory Relationship Guide. Les étudiants apprécient ce guide, mais demandent que des ressources additionnelles soient ajoutées au guide, plus précisément au niveau des règlements applicables aux situations complexes (bureau des droits de la personne, règlement 67 harcèlement, prévention de la violence sexuelle, etc.). Le Cabinet travaille pour satisfaire à cette demande. Leur question porte sur le rôle dont l’Université joue pour s’assurer de disséminer les ressources et améliorer la qualité de supervision sur le campus : une question rhétorique qui mérite une réflexion.
Une seconde discussion portait sur l’offre et la fréquence de cours. Le vice-provost demande aux facultés de continuer le ménage des cours non offerts depuis très longtemps et de songer à la possibilité d’afficher l’offre de cours pour une année ou deux à venir afin d’assurer une prévisibilité pour les étudiants.
Thesis Advisory Committee (TAC): UO is the last university in Ontario to not have thesis advisory committee mandatory for thesis programs. It is among the best practices to reduce time to completion and ensure a better supervisory relationship. The Vice-Provost has presented the idea to the deans during the SALT meeting, idea was welcomed. He invited the Council members to share their point of views. The discussion will continue in the upcoming meeting of the Strategic Committee on Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies (SCGPS) and will be considered by the working group focusing on best practices to reduce time to completion.
Frais OUAC (Ontario Universities' Application Centre) : Le Bureau des gouverneurs demande que tous les frais administratifs augmentent selon l’IPC. Les frais actuels de 120$ sont en vigueur depuis septembre 2023, et augmenteront en septembre 2025 pour les admissions de septembre 2026 à 125$. L’Université de Carleton adoptera l’augmentation également, permettant un alignement pour les programmes conjoints.
The Canadian Graduate and Professional Survey (CGPSS): This survey is conducted every three years. Almost 2,000 students took part in this year with one more week to go. The results will be received this summer, presented this fall at the Strategic Committee on Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies (SCGPS); it will be later shared with each faculty. The data, concerning student satisfaction and experience, will allow us to make informed decisions.

Time to Completion (TTC) working group: At the last meeting of the Strategic Committee on Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies, it was determined to establish a working group to help identify best practices to improve the time to completion, a key performance indicator (KPI) included in Transformation 2030. The working group will also address the following key points: evaluate the relevance of the courses and the comp exam in relation the degree-level expectation (DLE) and compare the number of courses per degree in comparison to the U15.
The working group had the first meeting on March 18 and made significant progress. The following meeting is scheduled for April 1st. A report will be presented on April 16th during the SCGPS’ meeting.
The Associate Vice-Provost updated the Council on the progress of different program evaluations (Environmental Engineering, International Development and Global Studies).

Important Updates on the New Harmonized Tri-Agency Scholarships and Fellowships Program: The eligibility criteria have been extended to international students at both doctoral and postdoctoral levels. This will increase substantially the number of applications; an efficient process will be required. Additional information will be communicated to the faculties as soon as available.
Award Notification Timeline: The students will be informed for the respective awards as follows:
- The Canada Graduate Scholarships - Master's Program (CGS-M): Early April
- The Ontario Graduate Scholarship (OGS) and the Queen Elizabeth II Scholarships in Science and Technology (QEII-GSST): End of April
- The Canada Graduate Scholarships – Doctoral program (CGS D): By April 30
- Thesis Prizes: By Mid-May
Update on the Responsible Conduct of Research module: The module will be mandatory for all graduate students starting in September 2025 for all new incoming students, those enrolled in a Graduate Diploma will be excluded. A group of 15 students have tested the English version of the module. Positive comments were received: the content is pertinent, but it was recommended to improve the visual layout. Students will need to complete both the undergraduate module on academic integrity and the graduate module on responsible conduct of research. Students will be asked to complete the module during their first fall term; however, they will have until March to successfully complete them. At that time if the modules are not completed, their enrolment for the next spring term will be blocked.
CAGS Dr. Suning Wang Award for Outstanding Graduate Mentorship: For next year, a nomination process will be communicated. This year, faculties who wish to nominate a professor for this award can submit one nomination to our office before May 1, 2025.
