Faculty of Engineering

MESSAGE FROM THE DEAN

Now more than ever, a degree in engineering or in computer science can open the door to many exciting and challenging career opportunities. At the Faculty of Engineering, you can choose among eight different programs that will provide you with a strong foundation on which to build a rewarding and successful professional career. An optional co-op education stream is offered in all programs. In addition, an option in management and entrepreneurship that allows students to acquire highly demanded business and organizational skills is available in all undergraduate programs offered by the Faculty with the exception of biomedical mechanical engineering. Through the Faculty’s newly established Entrepreneurship and Innovation Endowment Fund, all students now have the opportunity to participate in the annual Undergraduate Prizes in Entrepreneurship and Innovation competition. Furthermore, the Faculty is the only engineering school in Canada where undergraduate students can study in either English or French for all or part of their program of study.

Home to 2,000 undergraduate and 650 graduate students, close to 200 regular faculty and staff members and many part-time professors, the Faculty of Engineering is a major player in education and in the advancement of knowledge in Ontario, in Canada, and beyond.

The University of Ottawa, Canada’s university, offers numerous opportunities for educational and extracurricular experiences that you would not find in any other Canadian university. It is indeed my pleasure to welcome you to our faculty community; all of us—faculty, staff, and fellow students—are committed to your success.

Sincerely,

Claude Laguë, P.Eng., ing., PhD
