On February 28th 2022, Faculty member Dr. Michael Geist appeared before the House of Commons Standing Committee on Access to Information, Privacy and Ethics (ETHI). The Committee is reviewing the collection and use of mobility data by the Public Health Agency of Canada to support the response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

uOttawa researchers Ghassan Jabbour and Ned Booker used AI to find a narrow set of chemicals that can disarm the spike proteins of the COVID-19 virus. When bound to a select class of nanoparticles, these chemicals can be coated or printed onto any surface or material under the sun.
