Biography

Dr. Santanu Chakraborty is a full professor in the Department of Radiology at the University of Ottawa and the Section Head of Diagnostic Neuroradiology and immediate past Quality and Patient Safety Lead in the Department of Medical Imaging at The Ottawa Hospital. He also holds a Master of Science in Healthcare Quality from Queens University. His career reflects over three decades of advanced clinical practice, academic leadership, and contributions to quality and safety in radiology. 

As a Senior Clinician Investigator in Neurosciences at the Ottawa Hospital Research Institute, Dr. Chakraborty has led or contributed to numerous peer-reviewed grants and multicenter clinical trials, serving as Radiology Site Lead or senior collaborator in national and international studies such as ONDRI, INTERRSeCT, ICH ADAPT, MITNEC, PPMI, and ESCAPE-OPTIMUS. He has authored over 100 peer-reviewed publications in leading journals including Radiology, AJNR, Stroke, PLoS One, CMAJ, and the Canadian Association of Radiologists Journal, as well as book chapters for Cambridge University Press and Elsevier. His research has advanced imaging of intracerebral hemorrhage and stroke, imaging biomarkers in neurodegenerative disease, MS imaging, neuro-oncology, and radiation dose optimization.
