The Department of Psychiatry offers undergraduate student electives in Adult Psychiatry, Child Psychiatry, Forensic Psychiatry and Geriatric Psychiatry. Elective rotations offer students opportunities to gain practical knowledge and real-world experience in diverse areas of specialty at highly-regarded partner institutions, including The Ottawa Hospital-General and Civic Campus, The Royal and Children's Hospital of Eastern Ontario.

In psychiatry, we need time to set up an elective as we need to check schedules of physicians in the area(s) of interest(s) you have listed. The more areas of interests (child, forensics, geriatric, adult, CL, etc.) you provide the more physicians can be asked. There are 4 possible sites (CHEO, TOH-Civic Campus, TOH-General Campus, The Royal) where your elective could take place.

Specific for uOttawa MS1 and MS2 electives, we need the following information.

  1. How many hours you are looking to cover.

  2. Dates and times you can physically meet your preceptor at his/her site.

Non-Ottawa University students looking to book a 4th year elective, please apply through the AFMC portal
