The Faculty of Social Sciences congratulates Professor Marie-Ève Desrosiers, of the Graduate School in Public and International Affairs and Titulaire de la Chaire de recherche en francophonie internationale sur les aspirations et mouvements politiques en Afrique francophone, for receiving the Robert Elgie Best Paper Prize 2025 from the European Consortium for Political Research (ECPR).

The Faculty of Social Sciences is proud to celebrate the success of two of its students who earned first and third place at the uOGRADflix competition, a University of Ottawa initiative that challenges graduate students to present their research in engaging, one-minute videos accessible to a broad audience.

For more than 20 years, Canadian governments have promised to reduce poverty through ambitious strategies and better social programs. But one question remains: have these efforts really improved financial access to food for the most at-risk households?

We are delighted to announce a new addition to our faculty at the Graduate School of Public and International Affairs.

The Faculty of Social Sciences is launching its first call for applications for the B. Anne Wood Leadership Award, a major bursary valued at a minimum of $10,000. Intended for third-year students enrolled in an Honours bachelor’s program, this award offers a unique opportunity to transform a promising idea into a concrete project.

GSPIA master’s student, Angelica Kalubiaka, represented Canada at a major United Nations conference in Geneva, taking part in discussions on trade, investment, and sustainable development.
