2026 Orientation for New Academic Leaders

Stepping into an academic leadership role is both exciting and rewarding. To support you during this important transition, we organize an annual Orientation for New Academic Leaders, bringing together newly appointed department chairs, school directors, vice-deans, head librarians, program directors, and others assuming similar leadership responsibilities across the University.

Held over two and a half days, this interactive program provides an opportunity to connect with senior leaders and peers from across campus while exploring the key aspects of academic leadership at uOttawa.

Dates

  • Monday, August 24 (8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.)
  • Tuesday, August 25 (8:45 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.)
  • Thursday, September 10 (12:45 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.)

Through presentations, panel discussions, round tables, and networking opportunities, participants will explore the key issues, strategic priorities, and evolving role of academic leadership in shaping university life at uOttawa.

*You're invited to participate if:

  • you began or will begin an academic leadership mandate in 2026;
  • you will begin an academic leadership mandate in the 2027 winter term;
  • you were unable to attend the 2025 orientation as part of last year's cohort.
