Biography

Issra Idris is a fourth-year student at the University of Ottawa pursuing a dual degree in Political Science and Juris Doctor (J.D.). Driven by a deep interest in social justice, governance, and law, she approaches her studies with rigor and commitment.

On campus, she is actively involved in several student organizations, having served in leadership and representative roles. These experiences have strengthened her skills in team management and communication, while teaching her how to effectively carry student voices within institutional settings.

Beyond the university, her time as a Page at the House of Commons offered her an immersion at the heart of Canada’s parliamentary institutions, deepening her understanding of democratic processes and the rigor of public service. Her role as a youth advisor on the Gatineau Police’s Diversity Council further allowed her to work toward inclusion and meaningful dialogue between institutions and communities.

This sustained commitment earned her the Quebec Lieutenant Governor’s Medal, a distinction recognizing her dedication to community service.

Issra joins the Board of Governors with the conviction that students have a meaningful role to play in shaping the decisions that define their university. She hopes to contribute to inclusive governance grounded in values of equity and accountability.
