Éric Bercier became interim vice-president, finance and administration, on November 3, 2025. In this position, he plays a leadership role regarding various University financial, administrative and business portfolios.
With 19 years’ experience at the University of Ottawa, Éric Bercier is a results-oriented strategic administrator. Recognized for his ability to lead complex organizational change, he is known for his commitment to business excellence, service innovation and long-term financial stability.
From 2020, he held the position of associate vice-president, student affairs. Prior to that, he developed considerable management experience in the private sector. He has expertise in a wide range of areas, including student and administrative services, system and information technology modernization, financial and capital project planning, risk management and human resources.
As associate vice-president, Éric Bercier provided strategic and business leadership for a broad portfolio of services supporting over 49,000 students, involving enrolment management, career development and experiential learning, mental health and wellness, housing, food services, conventions and reservations, and recreational and varsity sports. He managed an annual budget of around $260 million and led a diverse team with over 400 permanent positions, 135 contract positions and 900 student positions, governed by six collective agreements. He played a decisive role in moving major University initiatives forward, including implementing the uoCampus project and expanding student residences to meet the University community’s future needs.
Éric Bercier holds a Bachelor of Commerce and an Executive MBA from the University of Ottawa.
