14 uOttawa scientists and social scientists among 2023 Highly Cited Researchers list
The University of Ottawa is known as a research-intensive institution with a highly multidisciplinary and diverse research community of elite academics who, through their work influence policy, find novel cures, question the status quo and solve real-world problems.

Today, fourteen researchers affiliated with the University of Ottawa (uOttawa) made the 2023 Web of Science™ Group's list of the most frequently cited scientists internationally.

The Highly Cited Researchers list identifies scientists and social scientists who have demonstrated a broad influence through publication of multiple papers, highly cited by their peers, over the past decade. These highly cited papers rank in the top 1% by citations in a field or fields and publication year in the Web of Science™.

Researchers are selected for their exceptional performance in one or more of 21 fields (those used in the Essential Science Indicators™, or ESI) or across several fields. In total, there are 6,849 individual researchers from institutions in 67 countries and regions that have been named Highly Cited Researchers in 2023.

The uOttawa scientists and social scientists who made the 2023 Highly Cited Researchers list include:

David Moher, Associate Professor School of Epidemiology and Public Health, Faculty of Medicine at the University of Ottawa and Senior Scientist, Clinical Epidemiology Program, Ottawa Hospital Research Institute.

Lisa Caulley, Associate Scientist in the Clinical Epidemiology Program and Center for Journalology of the Ottawa Hospital Research Institute. She is an assistant professor in the Department of Otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery of the University of Ottawa.                     

Casey Ellen Gray, Adjunct Professor of Human Kinetics at the University of Ottawa and Epidemiologist at the Public Health Agency of Canada.

George Wells, Director, Cardiovascular Research Methods Centre, University of Ottawa Heart Institute Professor, School of Epidemiology and Public Health, and in the Department of Medicine, University of Ottawa.

Don Husereau, Adjunct Professor, faculty of Medicine at the University of Ottawa, and expert in health economics and health technology assessment.                            

Robert W. Boyd, Canada Excellence Research Chair Laureate in Quantum Nonlinear Optics and Professor of Physicsat the University of Ottawa.    

Dr. Marco Solmi, Associate Professor of Psychiatry at University of Ottawa, Canada, Psychiatrist working at The Ottawa Hospital, Investigator at Ottawa Hospital Research Institute, and visiting academic at University of Southampton, and King's College, IoPPN, Psychosis Department, London, UK.

Salomé Aubert, PhD in Population Health, expert in global physical activity surveillance and promotion. Vice-president, Active Healthy Kids Global Alliance at the University of Ottawa.       

Jean-Philippe Chaput, Professor, Department of Pediatrics, University of Ottawa and Research Scientist, Healthy Active Living and Obesity Research Group, CHEO Research Institute.             

Jeremy M. Grimshaw, Professor, Department of Medicine, University of Ottawa Senior Scientist, Clinical Epidemiology, Ottawa Hospital Research Institute and Canada Research Chair in Health Knowledge Transfer and Uptake.

Margaret Sampson, Searcher - CRU systematic review service at the CHEO Research Institute.         

Peter Tugwell, Professor, Department of Medicine, University of Ottawa, Canada Research Chair in Health Equity, Director, Ottawa Centre for Health Equity, Senior Scientist, Clinical Epidemiology, Ottawa Hospital Research Institute.

Vivian Welch, Associate Professor at the School of Epidemiology and Public Health at the University of Ottawa and Director of the Methods Centre at the Bruyère Research Institute.                                                                      

Mark S. Tremblay, Professor, Department of Pediatrics at the University of Ottawa, Director, Health Active Living and Obesity Research (HALO) at CHEO.
