Every year, road construction and maintenance crews are exposed to fumes released when hot asphalt is mixed and laid. Those fumes can contain volatile organic compounds and other potentially harmful substances, creating risks for both workers and the environment. But Professor Di Wang and collaborators have found a promising way to make asphalt safer.
