Contest Rules - Update your alumni profile

Eligibility

This contest is open to all University of Ottawa alumni who complete the update your info form during the contest period. Only the following information is required: family name, first name, home or work address, telephone number and email address. To qualify as University of Ottawa alumni, former students must have graduated or have earned a minimum of 48 credits from this university.

Only one entry is allowed per person.

Entrants acknowledge that they have read and understood the contest rules.


Contest duration

May 24, 2021 to November 26, 2021, 5:00 p.m. (EST).

Prize

One prize consisting of an iPad valued at $500. The prize must be accepted as awarded or forfeited, and cannot be redeemed for cash or credit.

The draw will take place on November 30th, 2021, at 10:00 a.m., at the Alumni Relations Office, 157 Séraphin-Marion, Ottawa ON K1N 6N5.

Selection of the winner

We will inform the winner by telephone and/or email on November 30th, 2021.

If it is impossible to contact the winner within the two (2) days following the draw, a second draw will take place, and so on, until the prize is awarded.  The odds of winning the prize depend on the number of eligible entries received.

Claiming the prize

The winner may claim the prize in person at the Alumni Relations Office (above address), if possible, until December 15, 2021. If the winner advises us by telephone or email that he or she is unable to claim the prize at our office, we will send the prize by priority post to the address indicated by the winner.
 

Persons excluded from the contest

Employees of the University of Ottawa, members of the Board of Governors, members of the Board of Directors of the Alumni Association and anyone who is not a University of Ottawa alumnus or alumna.
 

Publicity

The winner's name will be publicly available on the University of Ottawa Alumni Relations Office website.  By entering in the contest, participants agree to the publication of their name should they be selected as a winner.  The winner must sign a form acknowledging receipt of the prize and releasing the University of Ottawa from any and all liability arising from participation in the contest or from the acceptance of any prize.
 

Protection of personal information and consent

In accordance with the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (FIPPA), any personal information that the University of Ottawa collects, including through a contest, will be handled in a confidential manner by authorized staff for the purpose for which it was collected. The University of Ottawa will collect and maintain the information provided by entrants in order to manage its relationships with alumni, including sending messages regarding University news, invitations, fundraising, and special offers available to alumni and friends of the University. The University will not disclose personal information to third parties, except as required by law or a court, or when having a third party perform services, in which case confidentiality clauses will ensure protection of personal information. By entering this contest, entrants agree to such use of their personal information.
 

General conditions

This contest is subject to applicable Canadian laws. For Quebec residents, any dispute concerning the conduct or organization of this contest can be submitted to the Régie des alcools, de courses et des jeux for a ruling. Any dispute regarding the awarding of a prize can also be submitted to the Régie, but the latter will only help the parties reach a settlement.

The University is not responsible for any and all liability arising from participants' participation in the contest or from the acceptance of any prize.  The University is not responsible for technical hardware or software failures of any kind, lost or unavailable network connections or failed, incomplete, garbled or delayed computer transmissions that may limit or interfere with a participant's ability to take part in the contest.

The University reserves the right to cancel the contest or modify the contest rules if fraud or technical failure threatens to destroy the integrity of the contest.
