Join us for an insightful conversation on science, AI and the future of global development with Dr. Sethuraman Panchanathan (PhD Engineering ’89, DUniv.'24), as he examines how making scientific knowledge more accessible through AI and emerging technologies can drive innovation and prosperity worldwide.

Dr. Sethuraman Panchanathan, born in India and an alumnus of the University of Ottawa, is a distinguished scientist and former director of the U.S. National Science Foundation. During his tenure from 2020 to 2025, he oversaw significant investments in AI research and innovation. His career has been dedicated to advancing research, entrepreneurship, and global development, offering insights into how science and technology can promote democratic renewal and social progress.

Sethuraman “Panch” Panchanathan was awarded an honorary doctorate from uOttawa in 2024 and was named Alumnus of the Year in 2017 by the University of Ottawa Alumni Association.
