U-Pass

Thanks to your U-Pass, you can enjoy considerable savings compared to the cost of monthly transit passes.

U-Pass: An all-access pass to public transit in Ottawa and Gatineau

The U-Pass is a mandatory bus pass program for all graduate and undergraduate students who are registered full-time at the University of Ottawa, completing a CO-OP work term, or going on an outgoing exchange.

The U-Pass is a student initiative that has come into effect through successful student referendums and through collaboration with OC Transpo and STO.

We are looking for students to participate in a U-Pass pilot project

Did you know that the University of Ottawa, Carleton University, Algonquin College and the City of Ottawa have been working together for the past two few years to eliminate the blue U-Pass card and merge it onto your student card?  The implementation team is hoping to launch the new U-Pass program card on your student card this upcoming Fall term. 
To do so, we need to run a pilot project this spring summer with uOttawa students.

How do I pay for my U-Pass?

The cost of the U-Pass is automatically added to your student account and is paid along with your tuition fees.

Some sponsored students may opt-in the U-Pass program.  In these cases, the U-Pass fee will be added onto your statement of account.

If you your registration status drops to part-time, you withdraw from the University or finish your studies (including if you submitted your thesis), you must complete an exemption to receive a pro-rated credit/adjustment on your statement of account.

If you have been charged for the U-Pass or if you have lost your U-Pass card, you can pick up your U-Pass card during the distribution period.

If your U-Pass has expired, never throw it out. You can recharge your U-pass at the U-Pass recharging stations.

Your U-Pass is a smart card and will work on all STO and OC Transpo buses. Simply tap you U-Pass on the card readers upon boarding the bus or at the O-Train station.

Don’t throw away your U-Pass!

Don’t throw away your U-Pass! If you have received a blue U-Pass, you must renew it at a recharging station.
If you throw away your U-Pass or if you lose it, a 30$ non-refundable replacement fee will be due prior to obtaining a new card. The replacement fee must be paid in person and cannot be applied to your student account.
