Artificial Intelligence, Equity, Diversity and Inclusion in the Canadian Context
Nov 19, 2026 — 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.
On Thursday, November 19, 2026, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. the Office of Equity, Diversity and Inclusive Excellence, Dr. Radamis Zaky and Mr. Aris Somda are jointly hosting a public panel on “Artificial Intelligence, Equity, Diversity and Inclusion in the Canadian Context”. The discussion will explore the opportunities and risks AI creates for equitable hiring in Canada.
About the event:
This public panel discussion aims to democratize the production of knowledge within the context of artificial intelligence in hiring processes in Canada. The panel will be an opportunity to engage experts, academics, and the general public in discussing the different opportunities and challenges that AI could create for equitable and inclusive hiring processes.
The outcomes of the workshop will be used to develop the research agenda for the second edition of the open educational resource (OER) Exploring Equity and Inclusion in Canadian and Quebecois Contexts. The first edition established conceptual, legal, organizational, and well-being frameworks. However, it did not address the automated systems that now mediate access to employment, services, and institutions. Two new chapters will extend the book into this area—the fastest-moving area of EDID practice since the first edition went to press, and one in which Canadian law, governance, and institutional practices are still being formed.
