Opening for the National Truth and Reconciliation Learning Week

On behalf of the Indigenization and Decolonization Committee of the Faculty of Social Sciences, we invite you to join in a solemn ceremony of truth and learning on Monday, September 21st from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. in FSS 4007 to open the University of Ottawa's series of events dedicated to the recognition of The National Day of Truth and Reconciliation.
Opening for the National Truth and Reconciliation Learning Week
Following Anishinàbeg protocols, we will open this event with words from a Knowledge Keeper followed by some songs, then a family of survivors of the residential schools from Kitigan Zibi Anishinabeg will share testimonials. This learning of their experiences can support our understanding of our history and help guide our collective and ongoing work to renew and restore relations, redressing the legacy and continuing impacts of the destructive regime wherein the founders of the University of Ottawa, the Oblates Order, played a significant and consequential role.
This event is open to all members of the University of Ottawa Community, students, part-time and full-time faculty, and administrators are all encouraged to come.

The Indigenous Law Student Governance (ILSG) will be selling Orange shirts outside Fauteux Hall: Weekdays from September 21st until September 30th from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
During the event, Lindsey Barr, from World Changing Kids, will also be selling Orange shirts for $30.00.
