When Delphine Robitaille first arrived at the University of Ottawa in 2021, she thought she’d stay for just one year. Four years later, she’s graduating not only with an Honours BA in Interdisciplinary Social Sciences and a minor in Political Science — but also as one of the most impactful student leaders of her cohort.

Originally from Montreal, Delphine began her studies in political science before shifting toward an interdisciplinary path. Her academic choices reflect her deep curiosity about the world — blending politics, policy, gender studies, public relations, and beyond — in pursuit of a more holistic understanding of society.

Delphine’s university experience was anything but passive. Early on, she dove into Canadian politics at the House of Commons, and student life through clubs and associations. In only her second year, she was appointed as Chair of the Board of Directors of the University of Ottawa Students’ Union (UOSU). A year later, she made history as the first woman elected President of the UOSU — an unforgettable milestone.

Her term was marked by bold initiatives: expanding and creating food security programs, supporting student activism, increasing financial supports to undergraduates, and helping to rebuild campus life after years of pandemic-related isolation. For Delphine, these accomplishments weren’t about titles — but about impact. “What I’m most proud of,” she says, “is the work — the tangible ways we supported students when they needed it most.”

Delphine is quick to credit the people around her. Friends, family, her roommate, and countless peers lifted her up during moments of burnout, grief, and pressure. “Their kindness and encouragement were transformative,” she says.

She also drew strength from fellow student leaders, past and present, who inspired her with their passion and creativity. “This campus is special because of them — because of those who believe change is possible and are willing to fight for it.”

After graduation, Delphine plans to recharge — spending time with loved ones, catching up on books, and exploring the world before taking on new professional challenges. Graduate studies are on the horizon, but first, she’s embracing the space to reflect and reconnect.

“Get involved. uOttawa has over 300 student clubs and associations — there’s something for everyone. It’s an amazing way to meet people, grow your confidence, explore your passions, and truly make your university experience your own.”

We wish you all the best Delphine!
