An associate professor in the Department of Criminology, Professor Truong began his five-year term on July 1, 2026. His appointment runs until June 30, 2031.
Professor Truong succeeds Professor Stéphanie Gaudet, who led CIRCEM for the past ten years. Under her leadership, the Centre strengthened its role as a dynamic space for interdisciplinary research, dialogue and knowledge mobilization, particularly around questions of citizenship and minorities and through its commitment to promoting research in French.
Building on this foundation, Professor Truong will lead CIRCEM into its next chapter, fostering collaboration across disciplines and creating opportunities for researchers and students to connect their work with the communities and societal issues at the heart of the Centre’s mission.

Professor Truong’s research spans sociology, criminology and social work and reflects an interdisciplinary approach to understanding contemporary social realities. In addition to his work at the Faculty of Social Sciences, he is a research associate with the CISSSO Centre for Research in Psychosocial Medicine and an affiliated researcher with the Institut du Savoir Montfort.
