On October 7th, 2026, Innocence Ottawa will be hosting our Annual General Meeting in honour of International Wrongful Conviction Day.

We will hear from the editors of “Wrongful Conviction and the Criminalization of Innocence” about the factors that contribute to wrongful convictions and the challenges to the post-conviction review process. This will be followed by a firsthand story from an Indigenous exoneree.

Come join the conversation, hear different perspectives, and learn more about the fight against wrongful convictions.

Indigenous food will be served.

This event will be in English.

Indigenous Affirmation

We pay respect to the Algonquin people, who are the traditional guardians of this land. We acknowledge their longstanding relationship with this territory, which remains unceded. We pay respect to all Indigenous people in this region, from all nations across Canada, who call Ottawa home. We acknowledge the traditional knowledge keepers, both young and old. And we honour their courageous leaders: past, present, and future.
