New high-throughput imaging system coming to the CBIA core!

Congratulations to Dr. Marceline Côté and to the Cell Biology and Image Acquisition Core on their successful NSERC RTI application for the purchase of a new high-throughput live-cell imaging platform.

The Incucyte S3 from Sartorius will allow the CBIA core and its >300 users to perform long-term live-imaging experiments using a variety of cell culture formats, from 386 well plates to 75ml flasks, and supports both phase-contrast and epifluorescence illumination. The built-in software performs real-time analysis of cell invasion/migration and wound closure assays, while simultaneously quantifying protein levels and/or morphological changes cell by cell. This new device also features multi-user scheduling, enabling it to accommodate several experiments at once, with as many as six plates recording simultaneously using varied magnifications and sampling frequencies. The Incucyte S3 will replace the popular Incucyte Zoom currently in use at CBIA. The CBIA Core works in collaboration with the research community to acquire new equipment through various grant programs and would like to thank Dr. Côté sincerely for her hard work and help in securing the funds for this much needed update to our current instrument. We also thank Drs Diane Lagace, Barb Vanderhyden and Morgan Fullerton for their invaluable contributions to the RTI application for the acquisition of this critical piece of equipment. We look forward to supporting our users with their future discoveries on this versatile live-cell imaging system!
