Event Details :

A lecture-recital exploring questions of what it means to perform Baroque music in a historically informed way. This will include examining the recent history of historically informed performance, and inspecting the potential aims of performing music in this way. The second half of the lecture will investigate the publication history of a case study, J. S. Bach’s Capriccio, BWV 992, to question the place of the musical score in a performance process. A performance of the Capriccio will follow the lecture.
