per umbram ad lucem

Overview

From Monteverdi’s lamenting nymph to the transcendent farewell of Poulenc’s Dialogues des Carmélites, the University of Ottawa School of Music Vocal Sector presents Per Umbram ad Lucem, a staged production bringing together seven scenes from opera and musical theatre. Animated by unforgettable characters, powerful emotions, and music of remarkable expressive force, these works take audiences on a journey into the heart of the human condition, tracing a path through its great contrasts: from darkness to light, from doubt to revelation, from vulnerability to resilience, and ultimately, from lament to grace.
