Join us for a our next edition of the Seminar Series with Dr. Jackie Dawson, Director of the University of Ottawa’s Arctic Research Hub and Tier 1 Canada Research Chair in Human and Policy Dimensions of Environmental Change. Dr. Dawson will explore rapid Arctic climate change, emerging shipping routes, and the cascading/compounding risks and opportunities for northern maritime activity and policy. She will also outline the new Arctic Research Hub and co‑development opportunities for uOttawa researchers focused on climate change adaptation in Arctic Canada.

Dr. Jackie Dawson

Full Professor, Geography, Environment & Geomatics, University of Ottawa

Dr. Dawson is an applied scientist whose work examines climate change impacts, risks, and adaptation in Arctic shipping, transportation, and oceans governance. She has published 175+ peerreviewed works (including in Science and Nature), secured $200M+ in research funding, supported 40+ graduate students and 65 Inuit youth researchers, and served as a coordinating/lead author on IPCC and Arctic Council reports. She is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada and the Royal Canadian Geographical Society.
