MEM 6100 – Initiation and Design of Complex Projects and Programs
MEM 6100 is a pre-requisite for MEM 5119 and MEM 6285.
This course outlines the unique characteristics of complex projects and programs. Students will learn about methodologies and techniques to characterize the complexity of projects and programs, advanced stakeholder engagement, strategic analysis for complex projects and programs, adaptive planning techniques and organizational governance models for benefits realization, and the leadership of teams.

MEM 5119 – Managing Complexities in Projects and Programs
MEM 6100 is a pre-requisite for MEM 5119.
This course is focused on the management of the delivery mechanisms in complex projects and programs: the preparation, design and response to request for proposals, effecting benefits-based procurement, designing performance-based contracts, managing supply chain relationships, implementing the enabling enterprise-level systems and the delivery assurance culture required for success.

MEM 6285 – Risk Management and Delivery of Complex Projects and Programs
MEM 6100 is a pre-requisite for MEM 6285.
This course provides an in-depth exploration of risk management within the context of complex projects and programs. Candidates will learn advanced techniques for identifying, assessing, and prioritizing both qualitative and quantitative risks in complex project environments. The course also emphasizes the mathematical modeling of risk assessment, enabling students to apply quantitative methods to evaluate and mitigate risks effectively. Key topics include risk management planning, risk assessment, and the development of contingency plans, with a focus on integrating risk management into project delivery. Additionally, the course discusses governance frameworks and the role of risk management in ensuring successful project outcomes. Real-world case studies will be analyzed to illustrate the application of risk management principles across various stages of the project lifecycle, particularly in high-complexity environments. The course includes a final project where candidates will apply risk management techniques to a complex project or program, followed by a presentation.

MEM 5300 – Data Mining for Business Analytics
This course focuses on the application of data mining techniques and predictive analytics to business problem-solving. It covers key algorithms and techniques for extracting meaningful insights from business data, including data preprocessing, decision trees, neural networks, k-nearest neighbors, clustering, and association rules. Students will gain hands-on experience with data mining tools and software, applying these techniques in managerial contexts such as customer relationship management, marketing, sales, credit scoring, and churn analysis.

MEM 5265 – Business Intelligence Technology and Performance Management
Get an overview of systems used to capture, transform and disseminate information to managers and the links between information and knowledge management. Learn the process of knowledge creation and application within and among organizations. Study business intelligence (BI) as a concept and performance management approaches at operational levels in the organization. Major BI decision-making tools and methods are covered.

MEM 6287 – Advanced Data Analytics
Learn the fundamentals of big data as well as big database management (NoSQL) with applications in engineering and management. There will be a review of the supporting technologies as well as AI concepts for advanced analytics.

MEM 5280 – Principles of Operations Management 
This introductory operations management (OM) course provides broad knowledge in the operations field in a realistic, meaningful and practical way. Learn the different value-creation resources for any organization and how they form a solid operations framework. OM includes accounting, industrial engineering, management, supply chain management, purchasing, logistics, process engineering, manufacturing, product and service quality, and customer relationship management.  

MEM 5122 – Operational Excellence and Lean Six Sigma 
Learn about Lean Six Sigma Green Belt tools and techniques, operational efficiency, waste and variability reduction, continuous improvement and the pursuit of perfection. Develop skills in DMAIC (define, measure, analyze, improve and control) process mapping, data collection and analysis, root cause problem solving, the cost of quality, mistake proofing and change management.

MEM 6281 – Supply Chain Management 
This course provides an overview of supply chain management as a framework for analyzing operations management situations, as well as general management situations. It covers major supply chain elements, leading-edge and practical chain strategy, and tools and methods for implementation.

MEM 5111 – Creativity and Innovation
Study the factors that enhance individual and group creativity in organizations and learn how they translate into successful technological innovations. Learn about the invention and innovation process, creative problem-solving techniques, entrepreneurship, the organizational climate that stimulates invention, research management and development, project selection, financial decision-making and organization design for innovation.

MEM 5120 – Product Development and Management
This course covers product development and management, including engineering aspects as well as latest trends and practices, insight into processes that facilitate product management and development, understanding product management and development practices via case studies, and development of the leadership and management skills required to create, initiate, develop, bring to market and implement new technological products and services.

MEM 5121 – Taguchi Methods for Engineering R&D
This course covers the role of experiments in product innovation using Taguchi and Plackett-Burman methods for experiment design. Learn about analysis of means,  analysis of variance, contrasts and multifactorial ANOVAs, fractional factorial designs, A-priori and post hoc pooling, scree plots and numerous application examples focused on engineering design.

DTO 6106 – User Research and User Experience Principles and Practice
This course dives deep into the world of user experience (UX) design, letting you understand the principles and practices to create user-centred products. Explore core UX elements like functionality, usability and desirability. Delve into human-computer interaction (HCI) theories to understand user behaviour. Learn principles for both generative and evaluative research, mastering both qualitative and quantitative data collection techniques. Finally, explore tools and techniques for conducting user research in person and remotely, as well as for using heuristic evaluations and usability testing for comprehensive user experience optimization.

DTO 6107 – Interaction Design and Design Thinking
This course equips you with the skills to create user-centred experiences through interaction design (IxD) and design thinking.  Explore IxD tools like sketching, wireframing and prototyping to bring your ideas to life. Learn UI design patterns for navigation, landing pages, search and e-commerce, with a focus on mobile application best practices. This course goes beyond the interface, delving into design thinking — a collaborative problem-solving method for human-centred solutions. You’ll explore the role of design thinking in driving business innovation, new product development and an exceptional customer experience. Finally, master best practices for design inspiration, ideation and implementation, using tools like visualization, mapping, storytelling, rapid prototyping and user testing.

DTO 7103 – Visual Literacy and User Experience Design Principles
Learn the fundamentals of visual, interaction and motion design theories and principles as they relate to user experience design (UXD). Through a series of hands-on workshops and assignments, you’ll hone your visual literacy by analyzing current screen-based products like websites, mobile apps and interactive kiosk interfaces. You’ll complete a comprehensive design project, conducting research and justifying your design decisions through written analysis. This course empowers you to speak the language of design, crafting high-impact, user-centred experiences.

MIA 5310 – Fundamentals of Cybersecurity
This course teaches you how to safeguard systems against ever-evolving threats. Dive deep into security policies, mechanisms and user authentication protocols. Learn to use encryption to protect sensitive data. Explore the role of firewalls, both internal and external, in fortifying your defences. We’ll delve into intrusion detection methods and the security of operating systems, databases and web applications. By the course’s end, you’ll be adept at designing secure systems and using tools like network sniffers and attack detectors for comprehensive security analysis. The course also explores ethical considerations computer security, ensuring you have the knowledge to build robust and responsible cybersecurity strategies.

MIA 6160 – Cyber Security Systems and Strategies
This course provides a comprehensive understanding of user, data and network security principles. Explore information system security standards and frameworks for risk analysis, to identify and mitigate vulnerabilities. Delve into essential cybersecurity mechanisms like authentication, access control, data encryption and public key infrastructure (PKI). We’ll also explore security considerations in the evolving landscapes of wireless, cloud and internet of things (IoT) environments. The course covers payment card industry (PCI) security standards and compliance, ensuring you’re prepared to safeguard sensitive information in today’s digital environment.

MIA 6360 – Artificial Intelligence and Cybersecurity
This course explores the intersection of artificial intelligence and cybersecurity, showing how AI’s capabilities can be used to strengthen defences against cyberthreats. We’ll delve into potential applications of AI in both defensive and offensive cyber strategies, including AI-driven threat detection, vulnerability assessments and exploitation of AI in orchestrating cyberattacks. We’ll also explore vulnerabilities in AI systems, such as training data poisoning, adversarial attacks, malicious prompt engineering and data privacy breaches. Countermeasures, including AI alignment strategies and the role of AI red teaming in identifying and mitigating risks are covered. By the end of the course, you’ll be equipped with the knowledge to secure AI systems against threats and ensure the safe and effective deployment of AI in operational settings.
