Poster for June Reading Circle-A Minor Chorus

A Minor Chorus by Billy-Ray Belcourt

Author Billy-Ray Belcourt, from the Driftpile Cree Nation, is known for works that challenge colonial narratives and elevate Indigenous expression.

In A Minor Chorus, Billy-Ray Belcourt weaves a poetic and intimate portrait of queer Indigenous life in northern Alberta. As the narrator returns home from graduate studies to explore storytelling, love, and loneliness, he reveals how everyday lives carry a haunting, tender complexity.

Our June Reading Circle will gather to discuss this powerful novel and reflect on its themes of humility, community, language, and memory.  Please feel free to bring your lunch with you.

Billy-Ray Belcourt is an Associate Professor in the School of Creative Writing at the University of British Columbia. He is the author of five books: This Wound is a World, NDN Coping Mechanisms: Notes from the Field, A History of My Brief Body, A Minor Chorus, and Coexistence.
