Location: In person (University of Ottawa, Faculty of Social Sciences, room FSS 4004 on the 4th floor) and online (hybrid format)
This conference will discuss Canada’s approach to migration diplomacy and its impact on the country’s global reputation and domestic practices. Key questions include: How does Canada exercise its influence in global migration governance? What is the relationship between Canada's humanitarian reputation abroad and its domestic policies? How can migration diplomacy enhance migrant and refugee protection?
The conference will be moderated by Delphine Nakache, Professor at the University of Ottawa Faculty of Law (Common Law Section) and Chairholder. It will feature a roundtable discussion with Professors James Milner (Carleton University), François Crépeau (McGill University), and Idil Atak (Toronto Metropolitan University). The discussion will be followed by a Q&A session and a networking lunch.
